HELTON, Sammy Kay Sr., of Marshfield, MA, passed away on February 24, 2021.
Born and raised in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, he was the son of the late Curtis and Edith Helton. He proudly served in the Army from 1963-1975. Upon returning to civilian life, Sammy worked as a Building Inspector for the Wentzville, MO Fire Department and was also employed by St. Luke’s Hospital’s transportation team. He was a proud American and took great pride in being a longtime member of the VFW and American Legion in Marshfield, MA.
He leaves behind his beloved wife Mary Helton, with whom he shared 18 years of marriage. He is also survived by his son Sam Helton Jr and his wife Rita, step children Frank Helton, Suzan Winfrey and her husband David Sr., Tulin Artan, Erol Artan and his husband Clayton Kingsley, Tim Artan and his wife Elaine, 9 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at the Brockton VA Hospice, who helped him tremendously in recent months.
A visitation will be held at Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Road, Scituate, MA from 10am -12pm on Tuesday, March 2, 2021, followed by interment at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA.
