As we observe Memorial Day this year, Jardin du Lac Garden Club joins with the St. Charles County Veterans Museum in honoring our fallen heroes.  Paula Wepprich immediate past President of Jardin du Lac chose the museum to be the location for her President's project, a Gold Star memorial plaque.

You may have noticed the Blue Star plaque and garden at Boulevard Park, Lake St. Louis.  It faces Ronald Reagan Boulevard and honors Blue Star families who have had a member serve in the armed forces.  Our gardeners tend the garden surrounding that plaque monthly. As you walk past that garden, rest on one of the two benches there and please remember those who have served or are currently serving our country.

Paula's project at the museum at 410 E. Elm St., O'Fallon includes a wonderful memorial sign and small garden.  It was dedicated on April 17, 2021 at a ceremony attended by Gold Star Mothers and Gold Star families, veterans, members of the museum, and 14 garden club members.  Speakers included Nan McCabe, President of the Federated Garden Clubs of Missouri, who presented Paula with a certificate thanking her for her project.  Also speaking was Jeanine Rainey  a Gold Star mother and American Gold Star Mothers President who shared her story of her young son who lost his life in Afghanistan.  They visited with each other, planted seeds with the young people there and toured the museum which is open on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.

Jardin du Lac is a member of the Mid Central District of Federated Garden Clubs of Missouri and the National Garden Clubs.
