New vaccine required for 8th and 12th grade students

Effective beginning the 2016-2017 school year, the Department of Health and Senior Services has mandated that the Meningococcal Conjugate Vaccine (MCV4) will be required for all eighth (8th) and twelfth (12th) grade students. MCV4 vaccine will be required if your child has not received a dose and is older than 11 years and entering 8th grade or older than 16 years and entering 12th grade. You may request a copy of your child’s immunization record by contacting the school office.

Your child’s medical provider can provide more information concerning the vaccine and requirements. The vaccine will also be available through the St. Charles County Health Departments.

St. Charles County Clinic visits are by appointment only. To make an appointment, call 636-949-1857. The hours for the immunization clinic are as follows:
Monday: 8:30-11:00 am, 1:30 – 4:00 pm
Tuesday: 8:30-11:00 am, 1:30-5:30 pm (2nd Tuesday of each month: 1:30-7:00pm)

Wednesday: 8:30-11:00 am, 1:30-4:00 pm Friday: 8:30-11:00 am, 1:30-4:00 pm

Please provide proof of immunizations by August 1, 2016 to your student’s school nurse. This will allow ample time for the nurses to adjust immunization records. Students who do not have immunization proof prior to the first day of school will not be allowed to start the new school year until proof of vaccination is received.
