Chronic pain affects one in ten Americans, impacting their ability to work and enjoy the activities of daily living. It affects people of all ages and disables more people than cancer and heart disease combined. Chronic pain may be the result of injury or disease and it may be adversely affected by stress, age or other medical conditions. Most forms of severe pain cannot be completely resolved by a single medication, injection or surgery.
SSM Pain Care uses a multidisciplinary team approach to help patients find pain relief, manage their stress and depression and to aid family members in their understanding of pain management. Through one or more therapies, many patients return to a more active, productive lifestyle in a matter of days or weeks.
Dr. Stoneking specializes in therapeutic and interventional treatments ranging from conservative medical management to trigger point injections and surgically implanted spinal cord stimulators.
