If you are from St. Louis you know all about the World’s Fair held in 1904. Automobiles were a recent invention as was the wireless telephone. This weekend, the city will showcase another fair that will host visitors from around the world.
The small-town fair is part of an impressive effort to host 5,000 international delegates from some 43 countries to the “Love Never Fails”! International Convention of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
“We have already transformed our Assembly Hall in North St. Louis County, into a special welcoming venue,” says local spokesman Ken Lenoir. “The parking lot is filled with exhibits and activities. The theater inside will feature nine two-hour performances of live entertainment throughout the week. We want our guests to really feel our love and sample our local culture.”
Exhibits in the parking lot include games and exhibitions highlighting western American culture. No doubt, a favorite feature will be the impressive BBQ feast provided by volunteers from as far away as Kansas City. Over 1,700 meals of pulled pork and ribs with all the trimmings will be served each day.
Rocky Morrissey of Warrenton, Missouri, and Sean Ragsdale of Raytown, Missouri, are among the 50 volunteers using 19 smokers to prepare 7 tons of meat. “All us volunteers are coming from across the state of Missouri to show our brothers, through action, that love never fails,” says Rocky. Sean adds, “There’s nothing I wouldn’t do to support our brotherhood.”
The highlight of the week will be the three-day "Love Never Fails"! International Convention of Jehovah’s Witnesses in The Dome at America’s Center, August 16-18. Over 32,000 attendees are expected. All sessions are open to the public and are free. No collections are taken.
