Holt High School junior Dominic Barbosa has been elected to the 2017-2018 Missouri State Thespian Board. This marks the first time a Wentzville School District student has been elected to the Board. Board members were elected during the Missouri State Thespian Leadership Conference held September 9th at the Capitol Plaza in Jefferson City, Missouri. The annual leadership conference was attended by more than 300 high school thespians and their teachers.
The newly elected board members were determined on the basis of their application, recommendations, and committee interview, as well as the number of ballots cast by the student officers after a speech during the leadership conference. The responsibilities of a state board member include planning the state conference, overseeing thespian troupes, and representing theatre for the State of Missouri.
Dominic is the president of Holt Thespian Troupe 4334 and serves as a class officer in DECA, as well as performing as a cast member in Holt Theater productions. “I am extremely honored to be elected as a Missouri State Thespian Officer to work on further enhancing theatre education in the State of Missouri because there isn’t a better place to be,” said Barbosa. “Truly where there is theatre, there is community.”
Missouri State Thespians is affiliated with the International Thespian Society, and its purpose is to aid the advancement and improvement of theatre arts in schools in the State of Missouri. There are 140 Missouri Thespian troupes statewide. For more information, please visit the Missouri State Thespians website at www.mo-thespians.com.
