Kathy Schweikert – Lake Saint Louis Mayor

Can you believe it is already December and Christmas is only about 3 weeks away?  As we enter the Christmas and Holiday season – let’s not forget those less fortunate than us (yes, here even in our own prosperous county).

Once again, the elected officials of St. Charles County will be ringing the Salvation Army bells on Saturday, December 9 at locations in each city.

The Lake Saint Louis Aldermen and me (and maybe some of our pets) will be at the main entrance of the Lake Saint Louis Walmart from 10 am to 8 pm.  Please come out to deposit your coins, bills (hopefully 5’s and 10’s) or even a check made out to Salvation Army of St. Charles County.  All funds raised stay in our county.  This is a friendly competition for all cities, but in the end, everyone wins as this benefits the less fortunate in our area – last year over $7,000 was raised county-wide.

Our own residents, Paul and Lana Kruse will host the annual First Step Back Home Christmas party on Saturday, December 16th from 11-2 at Wentzville United Methodist Church.  Donations of food, help with the party, checks, gift & gas cards, etc. are all needed as for many of the homeless, this is the only Christmas celebration they will have.  Please address questions to Lana Kruse at 314-799-3694 or

Also, our own Lake Saint Louis Police Officers Association is seeking monetary donations to help with their Christmas Holiday Charity Drive for a holiday meal and toys until December 22.  Send tax deductible donations (no food or clothing as there is no storage area) to Butch Crowley, Lake Saint Louis Police Officers Assn. 8651 Hwy N, Suite 229, Lake Saint Louis, MO.  63367. Please write “Holiday Drive” on memo line of check. Contact Crowley at 636-262-4235 with questions.

I am sure I have missed several other charitable events in our area, but the message is that most of us are fortunate to have the basic necessities, and others are not – so please open your hearts and wallets to make someone’s holiday a bit brighter. Thank You!
