On June 23, kids of all ages and abilities gathered together to celebrate the grand opening of the brand-new, all-inclusive playground – Jake’s Field of Dreams – at Wentzville’s Heartland Park (located at 100 William Dierberg Dr.). This playground began as a dream and is now a reality, which celebrates the life of Jake Vollmer a sports fanatic who left this world all too soon.

The grand-opening ceremonies, which were emceed by Frank Cusamano with KDSK, included brief but touching speeches from Wentzville Mayor Nick Guccione, Alderman Matt Swanson, community member and donor Gloria Ehll, Jim Vollmer (Jake’s dad) and Natalie McKay with Unlimited Play.

“Thank you for just believing that all people deserve this … as you leave here today remember the message is: be kind. Be kind to all of those who need a friend and who may need a little extra support,” said Natalie McKay.
