The City of Wentzville, along with the Wentzville Parks and Recreation Department, invites you to attend a groundbreaking ceremony for Jake’s Field of Dreams – an all-inclusive playground opening this summer in Wentzville’s Heartland Park.
This special ceremony celebrates the official project kick-off of this much-anticipated park amenity. The ceremony will be held on Wednesday, March 21 at 4 p.m. at Heartland Park (100 William Dierberg Dr.).
The playground commemorates Jake Vollmer who passed away in 2012 after a lengthy battle with muscular dystrophy. Jake, like so many other little boys, was an avid sports enthusiast. This sports-themed playground will help so many kids share Jake’s dream – no matter their ability – to enjoy the thrill of being on the field as a player side-by-side with their peers.
In addition to funding from the City of Wentzville, this project was funded in part by Unlimited Play, DDRB, All Inclusive Rec, Little Tikes Play Structures and the Missouri Land and Water Conservation Fund.
