Bike events planned for women and children, followed by concert

Women and children across the region are invited to take park in Take A Kid Mountain Biking Day and the Liv Autumn Harvest Women’s Bike Expo from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 8 at Broemmelsiek Park near Wentzville. After the biking events, participants are encouraged to stay and enjoy food trucks and a concert performed by 4th Street Band from 12–3 p.m. Events are free and open to the public, but pre-registration is required for the children’s biking event only.

Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day: Children of all ages are encouraged to participate in this annual mountain biking event that features bike skills clinics, guided trail rides, safety inspections and giveaways. Hosted by the St. Charles County Parks and Recreation Department and Gateway Off-Road Cyclists (GORC), the program is limited to 250 children and the first 50 will take home a free git bag of goodies.

Liv Autumn Harvest Women’s Bike Expo: This is an inaugural event for St. Charles County Parks, designed for women who are new to the mountain biking scene. Wendy Davis, Liv Ambassador, will give an inspirational bike presentation and lead a group ride in the park. Liv is a stand-alone brand specializing in cycles, gear and products for women. Take A Kid Mountain Biking Day is an annual national event created by the International Mountain Bicycle Association (IMBA) in 2004 with a goal of introducing mountain biking to the next generation.

After the mountain biking events end, participants are invited to bring out their blankets and lawn chairs and grab a bite to eat at the food trucks and listen to the fun tunes of 4th Street Band. This popular group has been entertaining guests at large outdoor festivals, concerts in the park, wineries, restaurants, clubs, and private events for the past decade and will be perform a mix of Rock and Roll, Country, and Blues tunes.

Broemmelsiek Park is located at 1795 Highway DD near Wentzville and has 8 miles of natural trail and 1 ¼ miles of paved-surface trail to ride.
